Trick or Treat

Our colleagues in the Senate posted a Halloween trick on the House yesterday on their blog, claiming that the House was haunted. We don’t dispute the claim. More than one House staffer has claimed to see ghosts in the House Chamber.

Rural Utah family farms are facing increasing challenges in maintaining financial viability. Nationally, the number of medium-size family farms is decreasing, while the number of farm acres owned by large, corporate farms is increasing.

SNAKES!

If a tough guy like Indiana Jones is afraid of snakes, then its understandable that Rep. Dave Clark (District 74) is a bit wary of the slimy, slithering things as well. However, when it comes to helping a class of 4th Graders at Diamond Valley Elementary School better understand the legislative process, Rep. Clark is willing to face his fear of snakes.

Sheriff Dee

Just call him Sheriff Dee- proving himself a great friend to law enforcement officials, Rep. Brad Dee (R-Ogden) was honored by both the Utah Sheriff’s and the Utah Chiefs of Police Chiefs Associations for his work with law enforcement issues the past several legislative sessions. Rep. Dee was named an Honorary Sheriff at the Association’s annual September meeting in St. George, Utah.

Public Service and Legislator Pay

Being a member of the Utah House of Representatives or the Senate is not something a person does to make money. There are a myriad of reasons a person runs for public office, but the take home pay is not usually on the list, as there is more money to be made in the private sector.
